For the first time I attended The annual Art of Fashion event at Neiman Marcus in Coral Gables, FL. This event was a combination of shopping, networking and most importantly giving back. The anticipated fashion show launched the fall fashion season with the latest styles while raising funds for community arts programs.
The organizations being supported were the Miami City Ballet and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. Stephen Brunelle, Neiman Marcus’ vice president and general manager, talks to Ocean Drive about the big night, the latest styles, and why fashion and art are the perfect couple.
Why have you chosen the Arsht Center and the Miami City Ballet as the beneficiaries for The Art of Fashion?
They’re very important to the community. Both of those organizations have spent a significant amount of time developing culture in our city. We do our best to inform the people attending our event and get them involved in these organizations. One of our core values is to be all heart, which means being socially responsible and contributing back to the community. We’re specifically involved with youth and the arts because research has shown that getting youth involved with the arts early in life has a positive effect on their futures.
Why is September so important in the fashion world?
September really launches the fall season. It’s a key business month for us, and it’s the time of year when people are upgrading their wardrobes.
Interview by Jon Warech from Ocean Drive Magazine
Guests enjoyed a night celebrating fall fashion, the new hot trends, and must have items. The highlight of the evening was a Fall 2015 Collection runway fashion show, hosted by CBS 4’s Lisa Petrillo with fashionable beats by DJ YSL. Models graced the catwalk in the must-have trends of the season: Folklorica, White-Out, Full-Bodied Red styles and Chunky Hills.
The evening also featured fashion and beauty stops throughout the store including Nail Art from Vanity Projects, hair touch ups by Glamsquad, strike a pose in Phhhoto animated social photo-booth, or to snap a #ShoeSelfie with your new fall stilleto’s. Top local restaurants were on-hand and guests were treated to tastings from The Local, Bulla Gastrobar, Piripi Miami, and artisanal cocktails were served courtesy of Fleur de Lis Vodka.
